1. What is the child to adult ratio? |
8:2, 8 children and 2 adults. I am currently licensed for 8 children. My husband and I run the day care full time, meaning neither one of us work outside of the home. |
2. Who will be taking care of my child? |
I am the main provider. I will be the one who cares for your child on a nightly basis. Joe does assist me in caring for the children. As a family Joe and I run the whole household, each having our own daily duties. Joe does most of the housework, grocery shopping and errands. He also home schools our two children. |
3. What happens if you are sick? |
One of two things will happen. 1.) Joe will take over, causing you no loss in care, or 2.) I will have to close for the evening. On average Joe has taken over when I have been ill approximately 5 days a year. I have not had to close down but 4 days out of 5 years! |
4. Will Joe (my husband) ever be left at home, alone, with the children? |
Yes, there is a chance that Joe will be left at home, alone, with the children. Joe is on my license as a provider. He has the same training as I do as well as the same background clearance by licensing. He also keeps his CPR and First Aid Current. |

6. What is your experience and education? |
Mine - I have worked in a public preschool program. I have also been doing child care for 14+ years as an adult. Most of my child care experience is through the nursing field, as a home health care aid, caring for developmentally disabled children in their home. I have also been doing in-home child care for 6 years, in my home. I am also continuing my education as a Early Childhood Educator. Joe- Has worked also with Developmentally disabled adults, and children. He also has experience as a professional cook working at Hewlett Packard . Joe has also assisted me in the childcare for 5 years, total. Joe has taken 'serve safe' classes for proper food handling. Joe is also the Father of our children :), ages 13 and 8 years. |

8. Do you supply meals and snacks? Are they healthy?. |
Yes and yes! I am part of a food program. The food program allows me to feed the children I care for and get a portion of the cost returned to me. As part of the food program I am required to feed the children a balanced diet. They also come and 'evaluate' my food program in the childcare without announcement every 3 month |
9. Do you have animals? |
Yes! Animals can be great fun and a good learning tool for the children in care. Currently we have: A toy poodle (5lb), Jack Russell Terrier (13lbs), Cat (10lbs) and 2 turtles.. The animals will be around your child, supervised of course. All animals have their immunizations and they are always kept up to date! The cat currently is not out much with the day care, he is only 10 months old he is too rough with people currently, when he learns how to play nicely he will be permitted to play with the kids. |
10. Is the smoking in the child care home? |
Smoking in/near the daycare home is strictly PROHIBITED! I ask that all parents refrain from smoking near the day care home and save this for before they pick up/drop off their child. Joe and I do not smoke, drink or do drugs. |
11. How does Drop-in care work? |
Drop-in spots are on a first come first served basis. Just call and see if I have the opening. I suggest you call as soon as possible. |
12. What is the 'interview' process? |
I have a phone interview which is simple questions to make sure I am able to assist you in your child care needs, this takes only a few minutes. Then if you and I decide to go further then I do a in-home interview. This takes about 1-2 hours. During this process we go over some key points. I show you my home, where your child will be playing, where they take a nap, where they eat and where we do our schooling. I also go over my program for the preschool. We also go over any questions you might have or I might have. Then you can decide if you like what you see and if we are a good fit. I can also meet your child and see if I can meet your needs. + Your child is required to be here for the interview+ |
